The main methods for strengthening the steel structure are:
To reduce the load, to change the calculation figure, to increase the cross section of the original structural members and to the strength of the connection, to prevent the crack propagation, etc. When there is mature experience, other reinforcement methods can also be used. The steel structure which needs to be strengthened is identified, and it is generally divided into local reinforcement and comprehensive reinforcement according to the damage range.
The local reinforcement is to reinforce the members or joints where the bearing capacity is insufficient, and increase the bar section method, reduce the free length of members and strengthen the connection nodes.
The overall reinforcement is the consolidation of the whole structure, and there are two types of structural static calculation and structural static calculation.
It is also an effective method to reinforce the structure system by adding or strengthening the supporting system.
